The Nantucket Dance Festival is set to enchant audiences once again from July 8 to 12, 2025, marking its 18th year of celebrating dance in various forms. This annual event not only showcases a diverse range of dance styles but also serves as a vital fundraiser for the Nantucket Dance Theater, supporting dance education and outreach programs across the island.
A Week of Dance and Community Engagement
This year’s festival promises a rich lineup of events designed to engage and inspire participants of all ages:
- July 8: Tiny Dancer Wonderland Party & Live Through the Looking Glass
Kickstarting the festivities at the Nantucket Dreamland, young dancers can immerse themselves in a whimsical dance party, while the evening offers a unique performance blending dance and storytelling. - July 9-10: Free Open Classes
Hosted at Nantucket High School, these classes are open to all ages and skill levels, providing an opportunity for the community to explore various dance genres, from ballet to modern dance. - July 10: Social Dance Night
An evening of social dancing at NISDA, encouraging community members to come together and enjoy the joy of movement in a relaxed setting. - July 12: Benefit Performance
The festival culminates with a benefit performance at the Mary P. Walker Auditorium, featuring renowned dance artists from around the world. Tickets for this highlight event go on sale April 7.
Supporting Dance Education on Nantucket
The Nantucket Dance Theater utilizes funds raised during the festival to bring dance programs to the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club and to provide opportunities for those pursuing dance on the island. Since 2023, the festival has emphasized community connection by offering free dance and workout classes, highlighting various dance styles, including tap, ballet, African dance, Irish dance, ballroom, Jookin’, and modern dance.
