Nantucket is full of fun Fall events, but perhaps one of the best traditions is the Annual Costume Parade on Halloween! Children and adults of all ages dress up and walk Main Street, collecting candy along the way and joining in other, simultaneous events around town. The parade is not the only fun event celebrating All Hallows Eve, however. Many island organizations are getting involved in the ‘trick or treat’ spirit this year. Linda Loring Trails & Treats

Friday, 10/25, 3pm – 4pm

Make your way over to 110 Eel Point Road today for the 4th Annual Trails and Treats event with the Linda Loring Nature Foundation. This event mixes Halloween and Nature with stations set up along the nature trail. Attendees will earn treats for participation, and learn a little about nature on Nantucket along the way! This event is free and open to all ages.

 

Spooky Stories at Nantucket Atheneum

Friday, 10/25, 7pm – 9pm

Tonight at the Atheneum features a special story time just for Halloween! Prepare to be spooked and shocked by scary stories read aloud in the Great Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

 

Coast Guard Haunted House

October 25th & 26th, 30th & 31st, 6pm – 10pm

Every year, the Station Brant Point Spouses Organization puts together a haunted house like no other, and this year is no different! Bring a non-perishable item for donation to the Nantucket Food Pantry over to 10 Easton Street and prepare for a night of fright. After you make it through the haunted house, treat yourself to a baked good to calm the nerves. All proceeds from the bake sale benefit the Station Brant Point Spouses Organization.

 

Maria Mitchell Halloween Hike

Saturday, 10/26, 10:30am

Join the Maria Mitchell Association tomorrow for a Halloween themed hike in the Nantucket State Forest. Participants will explore the spooky side of nature by searching for bugs and spiders, as well as participate in fun activities like listening for spooky sounds. Bring lunch and enjoy a fall picnic in the woods afterwards! This program is free and open to the public.

Halloween Fun at Bartlett’s

Saturday, 10/25, 10am – 2pm

If you venture into the Greenhouse at Bartlett’s Farm on Saturday, you’ll find a festive afternoon of activities ahead, including pumpkin decorating and scarecrow building. Buy a pumpkin at the farm and paints/decorations will be provided. Interested in building a scarecrow? Bring clothes and accessories to dress them up, and take home your new decorations afterwards! Additionally, enjoy a 20% off coupon for use in the market after your masterpiece is complete. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Spooky Science at Cisco

Tuesday, 10/29, 4pm – 7pm

For next week’s edition of “Non-Profit Tuesday” at Cisco Brewers, join the Nantucket Conservation Foundation for an evening of spooky science! Learn about the foundation’s efforts to conserve Nantucket with a variety of fun activities. These activities include bat origami, horseshoe crab painting, and a showcase of spooky species, for example. Last but not least, there are fun prizes, candy, and more for those in costume. All proceeds from the cranberry cocktails goes to supporting the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and their efforts.

 

Amelia Drive Trick or Treating

Join the businesses of Amelia Drive for an afternoon of Trick or Treating before the Costume Parade!

 

Spooky History Day

Thursday, 10/31, 3pm – 6pm

Trick or treat at the Whaling Museum Discovery Center and create a spooky craft during the downtown Halloween parade. Free and open to the public!

Nantucket Halloween Parade

Thursday, 10/31, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Last but not least, the annual Costume Parade on Main Street! This is perhaps one of the best traditions on Nantucket. Join the masses on Thursday for a Nantucket Halloween parade in the Historic District. Hosted by the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror and the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce, this is one of the most fun events of the Fall. Prior to the parade, head over to the Methodist Church for a chance at winning the top prize for your costume!
